J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction: J36 Second Show & Sale of Suckler Calves. Fortnightly Sale of Calves, Stirks, OTM Cattle & Store Cattle, Thursday 30th October 2025.

CULL COWS/OTM COWS

Beef cows peaked at 319.5p/kg for a young Simmental X from PM&R Fitton with other better bred feeding type cows 270p/kg-295p/kg with top grossing being a Simmental X achieving £2265 with a Charolais X £2191 and South Devon £2159.
Dairy cows sold to 264.5p/kg for best of the mediums from JM Barton & Son with parlour types 230p/kg-250p/kg. top grossing being a Holstien Friesian at £2034.
OTM Dairy heifers peaked at 304.5p/kg and £1725 with most 230p/kg-260p/kg and £1250-£1500.
Stock bulls sold to 259.5p/kg and £2486.

STIRKS

An ever-expanding ringside of local and travelled buyers in attendance and keen to return at future sales. The next sale is Thursday 13th November, vendors are encouraged to enter with confidence.
Steers sold to £1800 for a suckler bred Limousin X (10m) from Messrs Beaty with yearling Aberdeen Angus X steers to £1540 from RW&SA Nicholson, younger 8/9-month-old Limousin X Steers from JR Pye achieved £1320. Recently weaned Aberdeen Angus steers sold to £860 from Messrs Young. Dairy steers sold to £1360 for NRW with Black & Whites to £1000.
Heifers peaked at £1660 again for a 10-month-old Limousin X from Messrs Beaty. Heifers today were predominantly dairy X bred with sold to £1200 for British Blue X 10-month-old from JA Law with others £1140 RW Bainbridge. Younger heifers sold to £1030 for 7-month-old British Blue X from F&TE Park, Charolais X 6-month-old to £1110 from JA Jones. Recently weaned Aberdeen Angus X heifers from Messrs Young sold at £820.
Bulls peaked at £1460 for yearling Hereford X from Messrs Beaty with Aberdeen Angus X £1280 JM Simpson. Younger bulls sold to £1230 for Charolais X from R&BJ Cleasby with recently weaned 5 month old Charolais X £1190 JA Jones and Limousin X £1190 T Parker.

CALVES

J36 calf capital once again, the trade of the week reaching £1000 twice.
- 116 forward.
Bull calves an astronomical trade, selling over £900 thirteen times. Topping at £1000 was firstly a British Blue bull from Bamber Farms, Thurnham who sold others at £990 x2, £970, £960 and £930 with this home selling twelve British Blue bulls and heifers to average £905.83. Also hitting £1000 was a British Blue from CR Dickinson, Thurnham who sold three British Blue bulls to average £926.67. Charolais sold to £960, £950 and £910 for eight week olds from Gibson and Berry, Endmoor with others at £900 from JH Towers & Son, Tunstall. Limousin bulls from Langley Park Farms, Millom sold to £860 with Aberdeen Angus topping the natives at £760 from JH Towers & Son, Tunstall. Younger month old types sold to £620 for a British Blue born 01/10/2025 from DR&C Galbraith, Grayrigg with two week old Limousin to £480 from B&MJ Nelson, Haversham. Dairy Shorthorns to £420 from Messrs Robinson, Old Hutton with Black and Whites to £410 from J&B Morley, Appleby.
Heifer calves did not disappoint, topping at £860 and £850 for British Blues from Bambers Farm, Thurnham with Hereford cross also reaching £850 from first time vendors S Bolton & Son, Chorley who was well rewarded for his trip up the M6 selling others to £790. Charolais to £790 from JH Towers & Son, Tunstall with Limousin to £740 and £700 from Langley Park Farms, Millom. Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £610 from Messrs Robinson, Old Hutton with thirty-day olds to £560 for British Blues from DR&C Galbraith, Grayrigg and for Limousins from Colby Farms, Appleby.
